Hello Los Angeles!! Coming back for my annual trek out west, and am being graciouly hosted by friends in their home for a studio pop-up! This will be located a little outside of LA in Sierra Madre.

This will be by appointment only, 30 mins one tintype (with some time to either reshoot or make a second tintype if desired). If you’d like more than 3 tintypes please book two portrait sessions back to back.

I’ll be using strobes so kids and animals are possible (though always a variable, they usually dictate if we make a successful portrait, not us). Can also do up to 4 faces, though it is an additional $10 per face past two. If we are considering a portrait with more than 4 I would recommend a composite (two plates next to each other) or individual portraits as I may not have the space to accommodate that many in a single image.

Join me for by appointment only Natural Light outdoor sessions around Lake of the Isle in Minneapolis, October 20th 10-5pm. Catching the last bit of fall weather before the Minnesota winter catches, this will be the last chance for this style of tintype portraits locally before next spring.

I’m also offering these at 40%-60% discount from my normal outdoor session rates depending on what size you get!

Location TBD, but will confirm and send a drop pin 1-2 days before.

Sessions will be 30 minutes and include one tintype, size of your choice, as well as potentially on reshoot. You may add extra portraits at the time of booking.

Things to consider for a Natural Light session:

- These portraits will have a longer exposure time, so you will need to be able to hold still for anywhere from 2-5 seconds (sometimes longer depending on what time of day it is). If you would like children or animals in the photo know that they will more likely be soft or blurry. Also the more faces there are, the harder it is, accepting imperfections is key with this process and style of shooting!

- I will frame these images usually full body so as to include the natural background, we can do a tighter portrait but note that softness/blurriness will be more noticable.

- These sessions are highly dependent on weather. In the case of rain we will need to cancel or reschedule. I will be in communication with you as much as possible. If rescheduling is not possible I will refund you the session cost.

- If you wear glasses, know that if they are UV coated/transitions/ Blue-blocking that they have a high likelihood of coming in tinted like sunglasses. If your glasses are important to feature of your face, consider bringing frames without lenses.

- The time of day you book will effect the look of your portrait, light is usually the most ideal in the morning before noon, harshest between 12-3, softens slighty 3-5 but exposure times get extended due to losing UV light. I’ll do my best to shoot a flattering image but will be at the mercy of the weather, cloud cover, etc.

Saturday, September 7th, Blkk Hand will be at MOTOSOTA making natural light motorcycle portraits!

From 12-6pm (depending on weather) I’ll be making natural light portraits of people and their bikes. These will be longer exposures, so please no children or animals. You must be able to hold still for anywhere between 4-10 seconds!

6pm-8pm I’ll be making my traditional studio style portraits with strobes, just faces no bikes.
